The drama in the music is mirrored by the lyrics as humanity’s existence on earth is concluded with its obliteration and being described as a mere carbon plague. The album implements the style by managing to sound both massive and light on its feet, like a runaway locomotive with the agility of a sports car. New vocalist Riley McShane has also made a significant impact on the Colorado outfit: his wider range and dextrous delivery gives Allegaeon’s music greater depth, and he imbues the band with a character that was perhaps missing on previous efforts.
